BIOGRAPHY
All About Benjamin Oberstein
With a passionate belief that great architecture can enrich lives, Benjamin Oberstein studied Architecture at the University of Miami. To supplement the basic courses, Benjamin minored in Business Administration as well as took courses in Contemporary Sustainable Design, Tropical Architecture, Architectural Photography, Sculpture and Oil Painting. During his time there, Benjamin worked in the model shop and fabrication lab aiding students in constructing wooden architectural models. He also studied abroad in Rome, Italy analyzing and drawing the architecture and piazzas of the city.
Benjamin is currently a registered architect in the states of Florida and New York. Additionally, he holds the NCARB certificate and the LEED Green Associate accreditation. Benjamin has experience working on Mixed-Use, Residential, Hospitality, Education, Office, Interiors as well as Park Design through his various jobs. As a Designer/Intern Architect, Benjamin worked on educational/institutional projects ranging from primary schools through higher education buildings from the DD phase through the CD phase as well as Interiors and FF&E Packages. In addition, Benjamin advanced proposals by creating rendered floor plans & interior elevations/views in Photoshop as well as organized and maintained projects in Revit, in-house & with consultants’ models
STANTEC ARCHITECTURE INC.
Miami, FL | May 2015 - Dec. 2016
As an Architectural Intern, Benjamin developed schematic through construction documents, using Revit and AutoCAD, alongside the project team. In addition, Benjamin advanced proposals by creating diagrams and rendered site plans in Photoshop as well as overall packages in InDesign.
As a Design Coordinator 1, Benjamin continued his responsibilities from when he was an Intern while also revising construction documents during the construction administration phase using Revit and AutoCAD to reflect changes.

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI MODEL SHOP
Coral Gables, FL | Aug. 2013 - Dec. 2014
As a Model Shop/Fabrication Lab Assistant, Benjamin assisted students to use tools and machines safely to build architectural models, formatted files and operated the laser cutter and CNC machine. Benjamin later used these skills to build a model of the Litsey Residence by Alfred Browning Parker for the HistoryMIAMI Museum as well as his sculpture and furniture piece.

As a Design Intern, Benjamin researched new technologies for luxury town homes and apartments, investigated trends of each room of the modern home and communicated with various dealers globally regarding pricing and function. Benjamin's research was used to select products from fixtures to finishes for multi-family town homes converted to luxury single-family town homes in New York City.

As a Research Assistant, Benjamin was tasked with constructing a hydrogel holder for infusion testing, in order to assist in further research on Convection Enhanced Delivery. See this link to the research paper acknowledging Benjamin's work.

CANSTRUCTION: UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI SCHOOL OFÂ ARCHITECTURE

Benjamin, as a member of Team Studio 6, built  "Burj CANlifa" (a replica of Burj Khalifa) out of donated cans of food. The team received an honorable mention while donating food to Camillus House in time for Thanksgiving.
